Welcome to our first grade website for Mrs. Paulsen's Class.
This site will contain all the information you will need to know for a smooth year. Please let me know if you have questions about anything. We will be posting pictures and student work as often as possible.

Announcements
If you have not sent the $4 for cake walk money yet, please do tomorrow! We are short on funds and will not be able to purchase as many cakes as we will need otherwise.
Reading month is in full swing. Keep checking those yellow calendars to see what we are up to for the day.
Our Spelling words this week are tough-- we are starting to work on vowel teams. Our words include ai and ay this week. We have been practicing hard in class.
Please remind your children that toys and jewelry need to stay at home. These distract your child and others from learning.
We are collecting items for our Spring Fling Basket for the Silent Auction. Our theme this year is "Baby". If you are at Wal-Mart and could pick up any small baby related item we would appreciate your help in creating a special basket for this Spring Fling. It is starting to look good!
If you know of someone who might be willing to volunteer for even 1/2 hour at Spring Fling, please let them know we need help. We are seriously short of workers this year, and will need to close booths if we can't find people to work.
Please remember to label all of your child's clothing items. We have had a few things lost even though we have procedures in place for hats, mittens, snowpants and coats. Students may not leave clothing items overnight here at school.
If your address or phone number has changed, please let me and the school office know.
If your child brings home a red half sheet note, these are requests for items they need in order to do their work at school. Many children are either running out of glue sticks or are out already. If you get a red note please try to fill it as soon as possible. Thanks!
We are into our new unit in math. We will be looking deeper into problem solving, data collection and working more on money and time as well. You will probably see some recording sheets coming home that may look a bit strange, but we are working on adding and recording the answers with dominoes, number cards and die.
Library day is always Friday.
P.E. is on Monday and Tuesday. Students need tennis shoes on those days. Boots will not work in gym!
